Thanks to Frank-Jurgen Richter for convening the 2019 Horasis Global India Meeting in Segovia, or for organizing a walking tour after the conference. Only an hour north of Madrid, Segovia is another world. It features an amazing Roman aqueduct, the famous Alcazar (medieval seat of the monarchs of Castile and León), a magnificent cathedral, any number of churches and monasteries, Spain's oldest printing press, and a Jewish quarter. The city is small enough to be walkable, and large enough to contain a huge slice of history.
