On Day 1 we flew from Lisbon to Sao Miguel (the main island) in a jet, and then to Flores Island in a puddle-jumper. Whisked to a comfortable accommodation in the friendly village of Aldeia de Cuada, we had time to hike up behind the nearby forested cliff and curtain of waterfalls to a hidden lagoon. Then it was onto a laval beach at Faja Grande, before repairing to Cuada for dinner.
