Day 3 was spectacular! By boat from Santa Cruz, we hugged the rugged north-east coast of Flores, before crossing over to majestic Corvo Island, formed by a long-extinct volcano. Bussed to the rim of the huge caldera, 5 km in diameter, we climbed down and lunched at the bottom. Often enveloped in cloud, Corvo and its caldera offered unblemished vistas on this day. On the boat ride back, we were escorted by a pod of dolphins. Finally a drive past two of Flores's several lagoons, in the central natural reserve.
